American Idol Season 4 and Grammy Award winner Carrie Underwood’s sophomore album, Carnival Ride, is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated releases of 2007. The carrier single off Carnival Ride is titled So Small, and was serviced to country radio less than 24 hours ago. So Small, a country power ballad co-written by Carrie Underwood, will no doubt help Carrie Underwood set country airwaves on fire once again.
So Small is the first Carrie Underwood single in which she shares a writing credit. In an interview with Beville Darden of AOL Music, she says So Small is about how “people invest so much of their time and energy into things that aren’t really important, and you don’t really realize that until it’s too late.”
So Small currently stands at #11 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs, #98 on the Billboard Hot 100, and #67 on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay. It debuted at #14 on the Canadian Hot 100, her best debut ever on that chart. You can now download So Small on I-Tunes; purchasing the So Small single today will help raise its Hot 100 rank as early as two weeks from now. (Once again, thanks, Berg.)

You have to hear “God Speaking”!
(Listen to God Speaking by Mandisa, off the amazing Mandisa debut album True Beauty. GannsDeen.com does not offer Mandisa mp3’s for download, and encourages you to purchase God Speaking or the album, True Beauty, from your favorite online or offline record store. God Speaking is Track 3 on American Idol finalist and now Sparrow recording artist Mandisa’s debut album, True Beauty. Penned by Christian songwriter Ronnie Freeman, whose own recording is currently Top 5 at Inspo radio, God Speaking is an anointed song that will touch your heart, I virtually guarantee it.
God Speaking is definitely one of the best tracks on True Beauty, and possibly one of the best possible Contemporary Christian album tracks in 2007. Congratulations out to Mandisa for a spectacular recording.

(For your listening pleasure, this blog post contains a stream of Wendy Wilson’s Illuminate, off her dance music project, Wendy. GannsDeen.com does not offer Wendy Wilson mp3’s for download. If you like what you hear, please leave a comment in the Comments box.)
Remember a pop trio named Wilson Phillips, the best girl group in the whole world? (Comments to the contrary will be erased. This is my website and I can say what I want. Hahaha.) Remember Hold On, Release Me, and You’re In Love, their the group’s 3 number one hits, that made them the first group to have 3 #1 hits from a debut album? Remember Carnie Wilson, who lost enough weight to make a whole person, and Chynna Phillips, who married one of the Baldwin brothers? There was a third member, Wendy Wilson.
While certainly not as vocal or effervescent as Carnie, or as outgoing and telegenic as Chynna, Wendy brought her own unique touch to Wilson Phillips. Years later, she’s married with children, but branching her own sound out. A collection of three dance tracks, collectively titled Wendy, is available on her dance music project page. It certainly is different from the usual Wilson Phillips sound. You can listen to one of the tracks, Illuminate, right here on GannsDeen.com.

Watch the video of Shirley Bassey’s ‘Get This Party Started’
OHMIGOSH.
Dame Shirley Bassey, she of the epic Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever songs from the James Bond movies, has done the unimaginable: she’s revived a dance song and made it cooler than the original! Stamping her classy high heels all over the original Get This Party Started by Pink, Dame Shirley injects sexiness and camp into this Linda Perry-written club chestnut.
Dame Shirley Bassey’s Get This Party Started single dropped July 16 in the UK, and should make its chart appearance by next week. Hope the Brits liked it - this revival of Get This Party Started deserves to go gold! Platinum! Wouldn’t it be awesome if the nine-week run of Rihanna’s Umbrella were ended by a woman twice her age?

(For your listening pleasure, this blog post contains a stream of Every Nation/Victory Christian Fellowship’s To The Ends of the Earth, off the new Every Nation/Victory Christian Fellowship album Glorious. It also contains Every Nation’s To The Ends of the Earth lyrics. GannsDeen.com does not offer Victory Christian Fellowship mp3’s for download. If you like what you hear, please leave a comment in the Comments box.)
From July 20-22, the Every Nation family of international churches will meet in Manila, Philippines. Over 16,000 people from all over the world are expected to attend the celebration at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City. To the Ends of the Earth is the theme of this year’s conference, as the theme is… to the ends of the earth. Tadah!
God-inspired tunesmith Jose Villanueva penned this catchy Christian song, and worship leader Teri Sambajon leads the song. With an irrepressible hook and unabashed lyrics, To the Ends of the Earth is a guaranteed showstopper.
Copies of Glorious may be purchased at the Every Nation/Victory Christian Fellowship church in Fort Bonifacio or Robinson’s Galleria. The album also features other great Victory originals, including One and Only and Desperate.

7 commentsWatch the debut video of ‘Pastor Puppet Pals’
You’ll notice it’s 12 in the morning. I just had a doozy of a time trying to put Nicki to sleep. Oi vey, a one-month-old can sure be cranky.A few hours ago, I uploaded ‘Pastor Puppet Pals,’ my entry to the Every Nation Funniest Home Videos contest. It’s inspired by the ‘Potter Puppet Pals’ phenomenon on YouTube, but I put a spin on the lyrics, the melodies, even the look, so it looks fresh and everything.
The idea, of course, is a litany of various countries where we can share the gospel. It’s to the ends of the earth, with countries represented from every continent (except Antarctica; I imagine most penguins are most likely saved).
I truly enjoyed making this video. Recording and layering my voices for the ‘Pastor Puppet Pals’ theme and the a capella song, the searching for the right clothes to dress the puppets in, the countless takes so my sleeve or fingers wouldn’t show up on screen (at some point, I just gave up and acknowledged that it was bound to show, and there’s nothing wrong with that)… making this video blessed me more than anything.
It is my sincere hope that Pastors Steve, Joey, and Robert don’t bar me from entering the Araneta Coliseum if they ever get to see this video. I thought they were really cute, and I hope that Victory people will feel the same way.
The video is now included in the official list here, and hopefully, will receive enough votes to qualify for the Top 3 in the Creative category come July 21. If you’re registered and you like ‘Pastor Puppet Pals,’ you can vote for ‘Pastor Puppet Pals’ from July 18 to 19. (I imagine voting information will be made available well before then.)
See you on July 21, everybody! (Oh, wanna view the video? Sure, right after the jump.) Read more

Update: We’re now streaming the Rascal Flatts Take Me There video! Rascal Flatts has uploaded its video for Take Me There on YouTube, and we embed the Take Me There video at the bottom of this post. Rascal Flatts rule! Enjoy!)
It’s shocking how many people dislike Rascal Flatts, but I don’t include myself in that list. I love Rascal Flatts, as does my wife, Cathy. The carrier single of Still Feels Good, the new Rascal Flatts album out late September, is arguably the group’s best single since Bless the Broken Road.
Co-written by can’t-do-nuthin’-wrong country superstar Kenny Chesney, Take Me There has an irresistible hook, unforgivably mushy lyrics, and, as always, a powerful delivery by lead vocalist Gary LeVox (what can you expect from a gentleman whose name is French for ‘The Voice’?). In other words, Take Me There is another #1 Rascal Flatts song just waiting to happen.
I don’t really care if country purists hate on Rascal Flatts, harping on a saccharine-sweet delivery or boy band tag, because, at the end of the day, Rascal Flatts will sell millions of copies and go straight to #1 on country radio. (If Rascal Flatts weren’t country, country radio wouldn’t play ‘em, now, would they?) I ain’t no purist, I just like me some music that I enjoy. And this is it. Rascal Flatts’ Take Me There. (Thanks, Berg.)
Take Me There is now #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart! In its 10th week on the chart, Take Me There is the fastest-moving Rascal Flatts song to ever go to #1. Congratulations, Rascal Flatts!
