Country superstar Reba McEntire is shaking things up a bit. Her new album, Duets, is a diverse set of collaborations with a variety of artists, including Season One American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson. Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson duet on Because of You originally by Clarkson, and it is a humdinger. Reba’s voice, while renowned for its emotion, soars to powerful new heights with the drama on this song, and Clarkson, well, Kelly is Kelly.
Give this one a listen. It’s worth it. Video after the jump.

Amazing! My eyes immediately welled up watching these two beautiful, talented young women perform in this video. I was already a fan of the original version by Kelly Clarkson, but together they bring a whole new interpretation of the song and its original meaning. They truly compliment each other in this video and song. Love it!!!
I totally agree, Rose. Thanks for swinging by GannsDeen.com!
Awesome duet and video!
I love the way Reba sings the word “around.” Teehee! It’s so Southern. Grabeh. Loved the video, too. It’s a whole different take on the song’s meaning - where Clarkson’s original video portrayed the pronoun “you” to be an inadequate father, this duet referred “you” to be the SOB lover of a young woman.
Pretty darned cool.
I love this video. I immediately started crying because of the painful memories it brought back. I already loved the original song, but Reba’s face brought out all the powerful emotions of seeing a friend in pain and being unable to help her. Cheers keep it up!!!!!!!
