Listen to Katie Giguere’s “Anyway”

bridges_set__full_body.jpg(For your listening pleasure, this blog post contains streams of Katie Giguere’s Anyway, as well as the original Anyway by Martina McBride. It also contains Katie Giguere’s Anyway lyrics. GannsDeen.com does not offer mp3’s for download. If you like what you hear, please leave a comment in the Comments box.)

Contemporary Christian recording artist Katie Giguere, who scored a Top 20 Inspo hit last year with I Lift Up My Eyes, is back with her second single, a remake of Martina McBride’s country/Christian hit Anyway. Solid vocal support and an earnest delivery make this revival of Anyway a career-making move, resulting in an Anyway that is, in my opinion, better than McBride’s original.

Don’t take my word for it. Compare the two and tell me what you think.

Lyrics to Katie Giguere’s Anyway after the jump.

ANYWAY Lyrics
Katie Giguere

You can spend your whole life building
Something from nothin’
One storm can come and blow it all away
Build it anyway

You can chase a dream
That seems so out of reach
And you know it might not never come your way
Dream it anyway

God is great
But sometimes life ain’t good
And when I pray
It doesn’t always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway
I do it anyway

This world’s gone crazy
It’s hard to believe
That tomorrow will be better than today
Believe it anyway

You can love someone with all your heart
For all the right reasons
In a moment they can choose to walk away
Love ‘em anyway

God is great
But sometimes life ain’t good
And when I pray
It doesn’t always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway
Yea - I do it anyway

You can pour your soul out singing
A song you believe in
That tomorrow they’ll forget you ever sang
Sing it anyway
Yea - praise Him anyway

I sing
I dream
I love
Oh, anyway
Anyway

You’re absolutely right! I thought Marti’s version was a little too shrill, and Katie puts the right mix of emotion and support into the song to make it work.

I also love how she changed ’sing it anyway’ to ‘praise Him anyway.’

Well, I am not sure, with music and artistry, it’s fair to call one person “better”. I think they are both very talented. But I can say that Katie Giguere’s version feels more genuine. She believes what she is singing, and when she sang “praise Him anyway”, it gave me chills. Thanks for posting this!

Hi Dana! I agree. It’s not fair to call an artist better than another. I didn’t. ;) I did say, however, that I felt Giguere’s version of “Anyway” was better than McBride’s, justified with the points I gave. It’s a comparison of songs, not artists.

I love love love Martina McBride. I just personally feel Giguere did a stellar - maybe better - job with this song. Marti’s was countrified in nature; I think Katie sang this with Inspo radio in mind. Just my two cents. No flames intended.

    Be blessed!

Katie’s version gave me CHILLS. I adore Martina and love her songs, but Katie’s was amazing! I want this song on my IPOD! They should make it available on ITunes!

I think it’s a consensus then. Katie’s version is, in a word, passionate. Not to say that Martina’s wasn’t - but I’ve seen her perform “Anyway” live on TV once, and it didn’t inspire me to do things “anyway,” despite the hardships.

And, it’s super duper great that Katie, who, shall we say, is of a bigger size and girth than Martina, kicks ass with her power-packed even-toned voice.

I just love love love that you’re becoming a pseudo-online DJ, Ganns, with your daily song posts. :-) Keep it up, and I hope to see you at the gym two weeks from now (after Cathy gives birth to healthy Nikki).

I would like to order the Anyway c.d. Could you please let me know cost and shipping ASAP? I own a Christian Bookstore and have a customer anxious for this c.d. They heard it played on christian radio and want it.

    Thanks, Patty

Katie’s version just speaks to me. Martina is great and a Diva but, God has blessed Katie for waiting to see what would happen “anyway” and she should feel proud, blessed, elated, and moved. God knew her dedication and blessed her!! I want to buy that album ASAP! The song speaks to me and my life. I keep butting my head into a brick wall sometimes thinking I shouldn’t do this or that because, what’s the point? The song embodies everything Christ is telling me in a nutshell. It is moving, motivating, caring, loving, and above all blessed! Great job Katie - You know what my soul needs to hear! Your Sister In Christ, Michelle Barker

I hear Katie’s version on the radio station that I listen to. It always shines the light at the end of the tunnel for me. It’s pretty rare that a newby would outshine the standing talent, but then I say, Sing it anyway.
